ABSENTEE VOTING

Kentucky registered voters may vote at any of the available polling locations during Early Voting, on Election Day or, if eligible, may cast an absentee ballot by mail or excused walk-in absentee at the county clerk's office before Election Day.

Mail-in Absentee Voting

To vote absentee by mail, registered voters can visit the Mail-in Absentee Request Portal

​

Ensure the ballot is completed before inserting it into the provided envelopes. Be sure that everything is signed, as directed in the instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the Election Department directly at (859) 624-4703, ext. 2.

How to Return the Ballot:

  • Mail the completed ballot in the provided envelopes. 

  • Return the completed ballot in the provided envelopes in person to the Clerk's Office ballot drop-boxes at the â€‹Richmond or Berea Branch.

Criteria to Apply for a Federal Postcard Application:

​

  • a member of the uniformed services on active duty, their eligible spouse, and/or dependent.

  • a U.S. citizen temporarily residing outside the U.S. 

  • a U.S. citizen overseas by employment, or accompanying spouse or dependent. 

  • other U.S. citizen residing outside the U.S.

Absentee Qualifications

You must fulfill one of the following criteria to be eligible to vote absentee:

​

  • you are a voter who will be out of the county on the day of the election. 

  • you are a voter whose employment location requires you to be absent from the county all hours and all days on Election Day.

  • you are a military personnel confined to a military base or are overseas on Election Day.

  • you are a student or resident who temporarily resides outside of the county. 

  • you are a voter or spouse of a voter who has surgery scheduled that will require hospitalization on Election Day.

  • you are unable to go to the polls on Election Day due to age, disability, or illness.

  • you are a pregnant woman in your third trimester.

In-person Absentee Voting

In-person absentee voting will be available to qualifying voters from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on the following dates:

  • May 8th, 2024

Medical Emergency Ballots

In case of a medical emergency within 14 days of an election, a registered voter and the registered voter's spouse may apply for an absentee ballot. The application shall state that the emergency condition occurred within 14 days.
