DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAXES
Madison County property-owners pay their annual property tax to the Madison County Sheriff's Office. In the event an individual fails to pay by the deadline, the property tax bill will be transferred to the Madison County Clerk's Office, and penalty fees will be assessed. The Clerk's Office is responsible for collecting delinquent county property tax bills.
Homestead Exemption
In Kentucky, homeowners who are least 65 years of age or who have been classified as totally disabled and meet other requirements are eligible to receive a homestead exemption. This exemption is applied against the assessed value of their home and their property tax liability is computed on the assessment remaining after deducting the exemption amount.
